“New Madhesh CM Sonal vows good governance and begins his tenure with a strong commitment to fulfilling the people’s dreams.”

Janakpurdham, Oct 30 – Newly appointed Chief Minister of Madhesh Province, Jitendra Prasad Sonal, has officially assumed office, declaring that he is in the position not for luxury or enjoyment, but to serve the people with dedication.

Speaking to the media right after taking the oath of office and secrecy, CM Sonal stated,
“I have not come to enjoy the post, I have come to work and serve. Even when I was a minister, I used to work 16 to 18 hours a day.”

Sonal took his oath in the Bhojpuri language and, while speaking to journalists, mixed in some English words. He emphasized humility, saying he is a human being, not a deity, and welcomed constructive feedback.
“I am a person, not a god. If there are any weaknesses or mistakes while working, please inform me individually or collectively,” he said.

The Chief Minister pledged to protect citizens’ rights and move Madhesh toward prosperity. Acknowledging the tense political environment shaped by the recent Gen Z movement, he said it is important to respond to the people’s voices and restore trust.

He outlined key questions his government will address:

How to respond to the demands emerging from the Gen Z movement?
How to win back the public’s confidence?
How to make service delivery efficient and effective?
How to ensure good governance and strengthen federal democratic republicanism?
He paid tribute to the martyrs of the Madhesh movement, People’s Movement, Maoist insurgency, and the Gen Z movement, stating that their dreams must be fulfilled.

CM Sonal said the government will prioritize institutionalizing federal democracy, empowering the marginalized, ensuring efficient service delivery, and maintaining good governance.

“The main challenge is how to lead Madhesh Province toward development and prosperity. We will move forward with determination, and the coalition will work tirelessly to achieve this,” he affirmed.

After assuming office, CM Sonal announced the continuation of the popular “Hello CM” program, which collects citizens’ voices and grievances directly.
“Respecting the sentiments of the people will be our first priority,” he stated.

Along with newly appointed ministers, Sonal visited the Shahid Gate in Mujelia, Janakpurdham, and paid homage to the martyrs, marking the beginning of his tenure with respect and responsibility.
