Kathmandu Shines Brighter: High-Mast Lights Transform the City
Kathmandu is set to glow at night like never before. The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is installing high-mast lights at 62 key intersections, a move aimed at improving safety, traffic flow, and the city’s nighttime appeal.
With a project cost of NPR 9.99 crore, executed at NPR 9.85 crore through a transparent procurement process, work began after an agreement on 23rd Poush 2081. Mayor Balen, who has championed this initiative, emphasizes that the goal goes beyond illumination: “High-mast lights will make streets safer, reduce accidents, and deter crime.”
The benefits extend to businesses, pedestrians, and tourists alike. Well-lit roads encourage evening commerce, smoother traffic, and a more welcoming urban environment.
This project reflects proactive leadership focused on citizen welfare and urban modernization. For Kathmandu, these lights are more than fixtures—they are symbols of a safer, smarter, and livelier city after dark.
