Lalitpur: The Nepal Bible Society (NBS) celebrated its 50th anniversary with a grand ceremony at the Majestic Grand Party Palace, Ekantakuna, Lalitpur. The event, chaired by Elder Dil Bahadur Thapa and graced by Mr. Manoj Bhatt of the Social Welfare Council, brought together church leaders, international guests, and hundreds of participants from across Nepal.
A key highlight was the release of the newly revised Nepali Bible, jointly dedicated by Rev. Dr. Simon Pandey, Dr. Bal Krishna Sharma, and Rev. Dr. Mangalman Maharjan.
International representatives from Malaysia, Japan, the Indo-China Alliance, and DOOR International extended congratulations and praised the Society’s work in making the Scriptures accessible, including upcoming plans for a Nepali Sign Language Bible.
The Society also honored key contributors such as Rev. Loknath Manen, Rev. Bir Bahadur Khawas, and Dr. K.B. Rokaya for their lasting impact. Musical performances, a documentary, and an exhibition of Bibles in various Nepali languages added to the celebration.
For the past five decades, NBS has played a vital role in translating, publishing, and distributing the Bible in Nepal’s many languages, promoting literacy, moral values, and unity among Christians nationwide.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Elder Thapa and a closing prayer by Pastor Simon Pathak, marking a memorable milestone in the Society’s journey of faith and service.
