THE STORY OF CHRISTMAS: GOD CAME HIMSELF IN THIS WORLD

By Rameshwar Yadav

Christmas is more than a festival of lights, gifts, and songs. At its heart, Christmas is the story of God came himself to humanity and into this world. When we read the four Gospels together, we see one beautiful and complete picture of Jesus Christ—who He is, why He came, and what His coming means for us today.

I.                    God With Us – The Promise Fulfilled (Matthew 1:23)

Matthew tells us that the birth of Jesus was not an accident or a surprise. It was God’s long-promised plan.

“They shall call his name Immanuel… God with us.”

This means that in Jesus, God did not stay far away. He entered our world. He stepped into our history. He came close to our pain, our fear, and our weakness.

For believers, this is important:
Christianity is not about people trying to reach God. It is about God coming to reach people.

At Christmas, we celebrate this truth:

  • When you feel alone, God is with you
  • When life is confusing, God has not abandoned you
  • When sin separates, God comes near to restore

Christmas declares: You are not forgotten.

II.                 God Who Serves – The Mission of Christ (Mark 10:45)

Mark shows us something surprising about Jesus. Although He is the Son of God, He did not come to be treated like a king.

“The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve.”

Jesus served the sick, the poor, and the rejected. He washed feet. He touched lepers. He welcomed sinners.

And His greatest act of service was this:

“To give His life as a ransom for many.”

Christmas leads us toward the cross. The baby in the manger grew up to die for our sins. He gave His life so that we could be free.

For new believers, this means:

  • Jesus understands suffering
  • Jesus chose humility
  • Jesus paid the price we could not pay

Christmas shows us the heart of a serving Savior.

III.               God Who Seeks – The Savior for All (Luke 19:10)

Luke focuses on people who were often ignored—tax collectors, sinners, the poor, and outsiders.

“The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”

Jesus did not wait for lost people to find Him. He went looking for them.

At Christmas, God comes searching:

  • For those who feel broken
  • For those who feel guilty
  • For those who think they are too far gone
  • To be “lost” does not mean worthless. It means valuable but separated.

For new believers, this is good news:

  • You are seen
  • You are wanted
  • You are loved

Christmas is God saying, “I came for you.”

IV.               God Became Human – The Eternal Son (John 1:14)

John takes us deeper. He tells us that Jesus is not only a man, not only a teacher—but God Himself.

“The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.”

God did not send a message. God came Himself.

Jesus laughed, wept, slept, worked, suffered, and loved. He lived a real human life while remaining fully divine.

For new believers, this truth matters:

  • God understands your struggles
  • God knows human pain
  • God shares your life

Christmas is the miracle that God moved into our neighborhood.

V.                 Conclusion

When we put all four Gospels message together, Christmas tells one powerful story:

  • Matthew: God is with us
  • Mark: God serves us
  • Luke: God seeks us
  • John: God became one of us

This is who Jesus is:

  • The Promised King
  • The Serving Savior
  • The Seeking Shepherd
  • The Eternal Word made flesh

VI.               What Christmas Means for Us Today

Christmas helps us to respond:

  • Believe that God loves you
  • Receive the salvation Jesus offers
  • Follow His example of humility and service
  • Share His love with others

? Christmas is not just about remembering a birth.

It is about cleberating God in Christ through our lives.

God is with us. God is for us. God came to save us.
